Yes, it is time for another 2010 Blog Improvement Project Task.  This week it's all about tags and organization.

The task this week is to improve the way the posts on your blog are organized by ensuring that all your categories and tags (wordpress) or labels (blogger) are meaningful. It is important that your posts are placed into groups with similar themes, so that anyone browsing your blog can quickly find the information they are looking for. If they like a certain kind of post then it can also help them to find similar ones.

This is a long-term project for me.  I recently had my blog redone, so I have a menu bar at the top of the page where readers can search my reviews by author and title.  It is a work in progress, though, so bear with me!  I still need to go back to my older posts and tag everything correctly.  I'm also considering a tag for genre, but I'm not sure about that one yet!  I'd also like to have my reviews searchable by my star rating.

Your categories/labels should be displayed on your sidebar and act like short guide to your blog – allowing readers to quickly visualise the contents of your site.

I'm not sure I want to do this.  I don't really want to clutter up my sidebars more than I have to, so I am hoping that by keeping all this information searchable in the menu bar that it will be sufficient for readers to find what they are looking for.  What do you think?  Would you prefer sidebar links also?
